CONCEPT

Subversion is built on the idea that identity is often curated on the surface while complexity exists beneath. Rather than relying on overt rebellion, the brand communicates through restraint—allowing contrast to reveal itself only when engaged with.

The packaging functions as both object and metaphor: a controlled exterior that gives way to intensity within.

VISUAL DIRECTION

Subversion communicates quietly. Rather than relying on overt rebellion, the brand uses restraint to create tension—allowing contrast to emerge only through interaction. The packaging functions as both container and metaphor, rewarding engagement with an unexpected reveal.

COLOR & MATERIAL

Off-white matte exteriors reference traditional luxury and restraint

Dark, inverted interiors introduce contrast and tension

TYPOGRAPHY

Minimal, editorial typography used sparingly to maintain authority and quiet confidence

MOTIF

An orchid was selected as a recurring visual element—symbolizing beauty that is refined, controlled, and slightly unnatural

EXPRESSION & APPLICATION

The identity was applied across a cohesive product system and supporting materials. Consistent structures, embossed detailing, and inverted interiors unify the line while allowing each product to feel intentional rather than decorative.

Editorial still-life imagery and restrained compositions extend the brand into marketing, presenting the products as objects rather than advertisements.
